Michael J. Fox Announces New Book. Publication to Celebrate 40th Anniversary of "Back to the Future"

The 63-year-old actor announced that his next autobiographical book will be released in a few months. The publishing house is dedicated to the youth of Michael J. Fox and his work on the cult science fiction production "Back to the Future", which celebrates its 40th anniversary this year. "My thoughts are turning more and more to the adventures I had as a young man. This book has become, basically, a time machine for me," the star said.

Michael J. Fox has made an announcement that will surely delight his loyal fans. The 63-year-old Hollywood actor, film producer and activist has just announced his next, fifth book. The autobiographical publication entitled "Future Boy: Back to the Future and My Journey Through the Space-Time Continuum" will be released on October 14. The publication will celebrate the upcoming 40th anniversary of the cult science fiction comedy "Back to the Future" that guaranteed the actor international fame.

The book, which Fox wrote with screenwriter Nelle Fortenberry , focuses on 1985 , when the star worked on both Robert Zemeckis' Oscar-winning production and the popular comedy Family Ties.

"As we approach the 40th anniversary of the release of , my thoughts increasingly turn to the adventures I had as a young man. This book has become, in essence, a time machine for me. I think what excites me most about it is that it is not so much a collection of memories as it is a perspective. I ask the questions that I think we all ask ourselves about our lives: I don't want to give too much away, but I think I've figured it out," the honorary Oscar winner revealed.

Michael J. Fox's Disease

The appearance in "Back to the Future" was supposed to be the beginning of a long, fruitful career for Fox in the Dream Factory. He had dreamed of being an actor since he was a child - he made his debut on the big screen at the age of 15. Over time, he received engagements in increasingly popular productions, and for his performances he won prestigious awards - he has four Golden Globes and five Emmy statuettes to his credit. However, the star's career was halted by a devastating diagnosis. In 2000, Fox revealed that he had been struggling with Parkinson's disease for almost a decade.

This incurable neurological disorder, which is based on the progressive process of degeneration of nerve cells, manifests itself in a gradual deterioration of mobility, posture disorders and slower reactions. The most severe effect of the disease, which was detected in the actor at the age of just 29, turned out to be problems with short-term memory.

- It has always been incredibly easy for me to remember new lines. However, during the shooting of my last films I had a few extreme situations. I was fighting with myself - he confessed in an interview.

The actor spoke about his struggles in the documentary "Constantly: The Michael J. Fox Story," released two years ago. The film presents "a nostalgic, cinematic account of Michael's career and extraordinary personal journey after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease." The production is directed by Oscar winner Davis Guggenheim , the director of "An Inconvenient Truth" and "Waiting for Superman."

-Davis made a conscious decision to make a film about life, about a person, and not about the disease itself. I think he succeeded in that - Fox emphasized.

The title is currently available on the Apple TV+ streaming platform.
